The Power of Man’s Creativity

Perhaps there is no other force that is comparable to the power held by the creativity of man, save the power of God. This concept being not limited to art which hangs on the walls of museums, or any other depository officially recognized or not, but extends to the very concepts that are born in the minds of mankind. Such concepts enrage cultures to war, people to seek peace, to prosper, or to accept poverty. Such concepts draw borders on virgin land, and give power to those who are as imperfect and weak as those they rule. These very same concepts give value to pieces of paper, and bits of metal. These are the concepts of man. There is an ever present struggle between the two forces mentioned, that of the creativity of man, and the power of God. One carnal and one divine. One an illusion and one real.

Which do you value more; Pieces of paper and bits of metal, or the love of God? The authority of those whom you elect or the authority of your creator? Which is more significant; the ill drawn borders of nations, or the perfect plan of God?

If it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve; whether it be the gods cast in paper, gold, and silver, or the gods of political and military power of the nation you reside: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

Very true, hence it is a lesser power.

Ummm…could we have some background info here? Cuz if you’re saying that creative people are heathenistic or something, I don’t get you. Your entry sounds more like an indictment of idolatry than a complaint against creativity. If you don’t like creativity, then why are you so excited about the story you guys are working on?

No set context…go deeper than face value…

Yes, it is about idolatry, it’s about propaganda, it’s about many things. Perhaps above all, it is about the distorted value that man applies to things, and the dispensation of unrightious ideas.

It’s not an attack on creativity, it’s a clerification of what is important, and what is not. It’s about thinking above what we see built before us to realize what is really there.

I get what your saying. We were given creativity as part of having free agency, I think. (The right to choose the right.) Along with having creativity we have temptations that aren’t in line with God’s will. It’s part of the plan. We must trust that he knows what’s going on and value His will and His “creativity” over our own. Proverbs 3:5-6 says it best.

We can’t take all that material stuff with us anyway :)

“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths” (Old Testament | Proverbs 3:5 - 6).

I love that verse. There is a wonderful song that I used to sing at youth group that was based on that verse.

I often stop and try to think above what is before me, and think of how everything is so insignificant. Our daily lives are controlled by so many things created by man. It’s easy to get wrapped up in them. God is above all of it though, those things don’t really matter. To God, it is possible to walk over entire continents without using a passport. One day we will.
