Mission Update: May 4, 2005

Hello!

Sorry about not writing last week, the email server was down and did not allow me to sign on to check my mail or write. So yeah, I didn’t get my computer fix last week, which did not make me a happy camper.

Time is passing quickly…too quickly. I can’t believe the transfer is halfway over. I’m starting to get anxious about transfers, as I will have been here 6 months, and generally it is rare to stay more than that. I’m a bit torn. I love these wards, but then again it would be neat to do something else. I haven’t left the Springs since I’ve been in the field. When I was in Black forest I lived in the Springs (the exact apartment I’m in now actually). So I’ve been in this general area for a little more than ten months. I don’t really want to leave the Springs and go to Kansas, or Pueblo, but it might be a different (and growing experience). I just hope that some “loose ends” can be tied before I leave.

I would send pictures but the computer I am using is being uncooperative in reading the files off my jump drive, so I’ll have to send them next week.

The foursome in our apartment is doing better as far as keeping the place clean and getting to be and getting out on time. We actually started a competition this week to see who can teach the most lessons. We also included 15th ward, who are also in my district. So far 29 lessons combined have been taught this week…and there are still three days to go. We’re pretty excited about that. Currently my companion and I are in second place only because we cover two ward meetings on Sunday and Monday was spent finalizing and printing a pamphlet that we put together which cites attributes of the Church of Jesus Christ as found in the New Testament. I may post the pamphlet’s contents to my website. Over the next few days we should be able to teach a lot more people, and possibly win this contest. Winners get dinner. :-) Just a little incentive to get everyone out and preaching the Gospel.

Went bowling today. I scored a 138, 114, and a 138. Not to shabby for not having bowled in a while. We had a good time.

I hope everything is well with you. Thanks for all of your e-mails and letters, and thank you for your thoughts and prayers. Take care!

God Bless,
- Elder Joel A. McDonald Jr.
