Mission Update: March 29, 2006

Hello from Colorado,

17 days and counting. Received my official itinerary in the mail this week which tells me I’m leaving very early on the 14th of June and arriving back home that afternoon. Been getting organized for the move. I packed a box to send home (because not everything will fit in luggage…amazing what you acquire) which I’m sure it going to cost a small fortune to send (relative to my current budget). I’m looking forward to going back and establishing my life again.

Things have been going well out here. We are keeping busy at the employment office doing all sorts of things. Our first day there was very slow, so we didn’t know how we would enjoy our time there, but it has turned out to be pretty good. My companion has been working on one project for a week straight. I’m doing various tasks of the day. I built a nifty Excel spreadsheet to help manage the office. I think it turned out fairly well (even if it is the third build). The Museum opened its doors to the public on Friday. It didn’t open with as much bang as everyone had hoped. Hopefully the summer will bring people in. It is worthwhile to visit, but on the underwhelming side visually. I’ve been working on putting together an 8 page newsletter for them. This task has been difficult with my limited knowledge of the museum, and getting others to contribute hasn’t been easy. I hope to have it ready to go to the printers next Saturday. Maybe I’ll even get a copy before I leave.

My grandmother on my dad’s side is not doing well. She’s now back in the hospital. They are looking into having her moved to Fredericksburg Virginia (she’s currently in the Raleigh area of North Carolina). If she is moved up there, then she’ll be an hour closer to me (takes about 3 hours from Virginia Beach to Fredericksburg) which will make it a little easier to visit her. Please keep her in your prayers.

Many have asked what my plans are when I return home. Essentially, my plan is just to establish myself again with a job and car, enroll in college (Tidewater Community College), and so on. I have a business idea I want to try out that may be quite profitable. If it works, life will be a bit easier. If not, I’ll push through. The Lord will provide.

I want to express my deep gratitude for all those who have supported me as a missionary…many of whom won’t read this. Your financial/emotional/spiritual support has meant the world to me and always will whatever may come.

I hope you are doing well and enjoying the transition from Spring to Summer. May the Lord bless and protect you.
